Research Challenges Faced By Novice Researchers Of Social Sciences In Public Sector Universities Of Punjab

Abstract

The study was comparing the research challenges faced by novice researchers in departments of social sciences in public sector universities of the Punjab. The study aims to explore the research challenges through the literature in public sector universities of the Punjab, Pakistan. The study was based on a conceptual model which consist seven (07) most recurring and cited research challenges. A quantitative approach with survey research method was conducted for the data collection. The target population of the study 9 public sector universities of Punjab, whereas the accessible population was 800 novice researchers in which the researcher selects 400 novice researchers of M. PHIL semester 3 and 4 enrolled in the departments of education, sociology, political science, history, and psychology in  public sector universities of Punjab. Stratified random sampling technique was used to select 400 novice researchers. For the data collection of the study questionnaire instrument was adapted. Validity and reliability of the instrument was insured through standardized procedures. Quantitative data were analyzed through inferential statistics and the analysis revealed that the difference of research challenges between public sector universities; male and female novice researchers; and across different departments of social sciences was insignificant. Which did not indicate any difference of mentioned challenges. It was prescribed, that Moreover, the universities must made opportunities for the collaboration of teachers and researchers to advancement research environment. Motivate tutors and students at local and international conferences to deliver conference papers which enhance their research confidence level. The study may also help other researchers to ascertain the same topic to verify whether their respective universities have faced same research challenges.
