Social Media's Influence On Improving Conceptual Skills At University Level

Abstract

The goal of the current study was to determine how social media affects university students' ability to develop their conceptual skills. The study's goals were to: (i) show how social media can improve a person's memory; (ii) ascertain how social media can improve a person's capacity to comprehend concepts; and (iii) ascertain how social media can improve a person's capacity to demonstrate concepts. The population of the study consisted of all Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan BS students. Sample of the study were consisted of 240 students (120 each from faculty of social sciences and 120 from faculty of Natural sciences) from Abdul Wali Khan university Mardan. Because the study was quantitative in nature, a self-developed questionnaire was created for data collection. There were thirty items on the questionnaire. Responses were given on a Likert scale with five possible answers: agree, strongly agree, neutral, disagree, and strongly disagree. Inferential statistical methods including mean, standard deviation, frequency, percentage, and chi square were used to assess the quantitative data that was gathered. The study's conclusions demonstrated that using various social media apps—such as YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter—made conceptual development—that is, remembering, understanding, and application—possible. pupils' perspectives revealed that social media boosts pupils' capacity for learning. It was suggested that the institution give students access to resources and chances to benefit from social media in the form of idea clarification, translation, association, discussion, and illustration. Additionally, it was advised that kids use social media carefully, recognize potential hazards, and critically assess online information.
