A Research Article on the Causes, Dynamics and Prevention of Domestic Violence against Women
Abstract
Domestic violence against women is an international, social, and moral issue that is rapidly increasing across the world, particularly in developing societies. In a society like Pakistan, this problem is closely linked with family structures, social attitudes, economic vulnerabilities, lack of awareness, and gender inequality. This research article presents comprehensive study of the definition, types, causes, psychological and social factors, the roles of men and women, the family and societal impacts of domestic violence, and the effective measures for its prevention. Findings of the study reveal that the major causes of domestic violence include ignorance, poor economic conditions, imbalance of power, the perception of male dominance, weak legal enforcement, and flawed priorities within the family system. Towards the end of the article, practical solutions are proposed on governmental, social, educational, and religious grounds to protect society from this growing menace.
