Abstract

This study was carried out to explorethe difficulties to overcome different situation of emotional intelligence (EI) of working mothers teaching at primary level in the Haripur district. The objectives of the study were; (i)to find the perception of working mothers teaching in primary schools about managing different emotional intelligence situations. (ii) to explore the difficulties of working mothers teaching in primary schools to overcome general emotional intelligence. Employing a cross-sectional survey design, data were gathered from 248 participants out of a total population of 687 working mothers. A standardized measure of Emotional Intelligence scale was developed. Data was analyzed through SPSS by applying descriptive statistics. Results indicated a significant gap in the "Understanding Others' Emotions" (UOE) component of EI, suggesting the need for targeted interventions in this area. Moreover, most participants reported infrequent experiences of emotional states, especially in Emotional Awareness (EA), highlighting the importance of fostering emotional wellbeing and awareness to build resilience and support effective performance in challenging teaching roles. The findings also emphasize the need for further investigation into the emotional regulation strategies utilized by working mothers, identifying opportunities for support and intervention to enhance emotional health and coping skills. This study sheds light on the complex emotional dynamics faced by working mothers in professional settings and underscores the importance of enhancing their emotional intelligence and interpersonal abilities. Additionally, it points to the critical need for understanding factors that influence how working mothers interpret others’ emotions, informing potential programs aimed at improving empathy and social skills. Ultimately, this research contributes valuable insights toward improving the experiences of female educators at the primary level. The study concludes with recommendations to develop specialized training programs designed to boost Emotional Intelligence competencies among working mother teachers.
