Impact of Homework Assignments on Students Academic Performance at Elementary Level

The research study was aimed to investigate the impact of homework assignments on student’s academic performance at elementary level in district Madan. The research objective for the quantitative study was; to find out the impact of homework on students’ academic performance. Targeted population of the study were consisted all government primary school teachers in district Mardan. For the purpose of achievement of the research objective sample of one hundred teachers in which number of fifty male and number of fifty female elementary school teachers were selected through random sampling technique. The researcher constructed a closed-ended questionnaire Google-form with the options of agree, disagree, and undecided based on the research questions. The link of the Google form (questionnaire) was then shared with the elementary school teachers through Whatsapp group. The data was collected, tabulated, analyzed, and interpreted on the basis of the results. It was found that daily homework was a key aspect in helping students to improve their academic performance and acquire a variety of skills at the primary level. Data analysis revealed that homework assignments build confidence and prepare them for exams and class tests. Therefore it was concluded that homework assignment facilitate the students to enhance their capacity to grasp and apply what they learn in class. The study recommended that the teachers should encourage parents to help their children understand and complete their homework. Teachers should create homework that is interesting, engaging, and purposeful in order to meet the needs and desires of a diverse population of students.
