Abstract

The study explored perceptions of teachers about the interrelation between emotional response and cognitive dissonance in female students at school level in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The objectives of the study were to study emotional or social behavioural impact on cognitive functions; compare academic performance of students with social behaviour; investigate the impact of emotional response or social behaviour on academic performance; and, suggest what necessary steps may be taken to improve the Cognitive Performance and mental performance. The study was conducted in 15 schools which were randomly selected. In the study design, the students of grade 10 have been categorized as high achievers, average and below average from both streams i.e. science and arts. A questionnaire consisting of 25 items was developed as research instrument of the study. The data were collected, tabulated, interpreted and statistically analyzed. Conclusions were drawn on the basis of analyzed data. The study recommended that the emotional impact and cognitive performance were equally valued.
