Democracy under Pressure: Major Political Challenges Confronting Pakistan

The paper is based on the political issues which have plagued Pakistan since 1947. Institutional weak governance has been crippling political growth in Pakistan and heightened by the lack of strong institutions and the corruption issues in the country. It has presented certain issues such as political instability, civil-military imbalance and lack of accountability, bad governance, ethnic regional imbalances and external security imperatives in the report. It is these interconnected issues that have undermined the unification of democracy and government. The research proposes that in order to achieve stability of sustainable democratic politicians, there is need to reinforce democratic institutions and increase transparency of the system, and create tolerance to fairness of political parties and constitutionalism. Responsible leadership and involvement in civic life will only bring long term political maturity and national development in Pakistan. According to it, the process of strengthening democracy through the establishment of democratic institutions, adherence to the constitution, and the establishment of a political culture of tolerance are all relevant to the strengthening of democracy. Tantalizing further indicated that good leadership that is visionary and exercising accountability is also necessary in ensuring that transparency, inclusiveness and sustained growth of the nation are enhanced. According to the study, the sole requirements to attain sustainable democratic stability in Pakistan are some institutional reforms, constitutional sovereignty and political maturity.
